Here are a few things I'd like to point out about this very straightforward resume, which is being used to make a slight career change.

  • Professional title at the top. Instead of writing a job objective statement, Bruce placed his new professional title at the top of his resume. This helps him establish credibility and make his career change known.
  • Summary. Right under his professional title, Bruce listed his areas of expertise, which serve as a summary of his qualifications.
  • Unemployed. Because Bruce was unemployed when he wrote his resume, he listed "M.A. Candidate" as his current job title. This works well because his pending Master's degree is a key qualification for his career change objective.
  • Promotions. Notice how Bruce highlighted his many promotions by putting them in indented lists under the employers' names.
