Carolyn got lots of help with her job search, so when she got the job on the Park Patrol, she quickly sent out the following thank you message to her network of friends and colleaques. Notice how she personalized this generic message by adding a special note at the end for each person to whom she sent the thank-you.
Here's the thank-you email Carolyn sent:
Subject: Carolyn Zimger Got a Job!
I’m done “pounding the pavement” to find employment! I just landed my new job on the park patrol at Tilden Park.
I couldn’t be happier with this career move... and I owe many thanks to you. You gave me all the leads, advice, and encouragement anyone could want. I hope I can return the favor to each of you.
By the way, George, your suggestion to check out the Tilden Park website was a good one. Not only did I get the park director’s name, I downloaded a heck of a lot of info about the job and its salary. That sure helped me out during my interview.
