Sample Thank You Letter After a Job Interview

<< Index of Thank You Letters

Virginia wrote an excellent resume and won an interview for a position as Community Outreach Specialist with her local Parks and Recreation Center. Shortly after the interview, she shot off an email of thanks. Notice that in addition to thanking her interviewer for his time, she also added an idea she had for a project she'd like to do as their new Community Outreach Spealist.

Here's the thank-you email Virginia sent:

Subject: Thank you for the interview, from Virginia Long

Dear Mr. Peppercorn,
Thank you for the time you extended to me on Monday in the midst of your hectic schedule.

It’s not often that job interviews can be so relaxing and pleasant, but I found our meeting to be an exception. I felt a rapport with you that I believe would contribute to an excellent working relationship.

You mentioned our city’s need for improved park maintenance. I have given your concern some thought, and want to propose a clean-up project for volunteer teens. I am confident that I could successfully launch such a program.

I will call you on Thursday so we can talk further about how we could work together.
Cordially,
Virginia Long

If Virginia had sent her thank you as hardcopy, here's what it might have looked like:
