Gutsy Cover Letter Sample for Sales and Business Development

Several months ago a job seeker sent me a pretty gutsy cover letter sample for a Sales and Business Development job. He asked for my feedback. Well, the letter was so good and so different that I wanted to share it here.

You'll notice my one edit in his cover letter, which I explain right after the letter. Here you are...

No matter where I’ve been, I’ve produced top-notch work because I’m dedicated to making sure each and every piece stands out from the crowd.I apologize for the blunt nature of my letter, but I hope you seriously consider taking me under your wing and letting my work speak for me. My Response to This Bold Cover Letter

Dear ***,
I think the right employer will really like your cover letter and will be curious to see what you’ve got in your resume. And this type of blunt cover letter might be a way for you to screen out employers who won’t find your personality a good fit for their company. I say, send it and see what response you get. If, after sending this type of letter many times, you get no response, then think about toning it down.

There’s one word that struck me as not okay: “crap.” I think it would work if you just deleted “of crap” so it read, “feeding you a line about how my past…”.

Good luck with your bold approach!
