Area Job Conditions

Coeur d'Alene (Idaho), Provo (Utah), and Lowell (Massachusetts) can boast the most computer support technicians for their size. Kingman (Arizona), Decatur (Alabama), and Ocean City (New Jersey) have the fewest per capita.

The highest salaries for workers are found in Lowell (Massachusetts), San Jose (California), and Boston (Massachusetts), and the lowest-paying areas are in Brownsville (Texas), Grand Forks (North Dakota), and Lexington (Kentucky).

Training and Education

Many employers require that job applicants for this career have an associate degree. The percentage of computer support technicians with a bachelor's degree or better is 43%. Approximately 44% of workers went to college, but did not have to get a four year degree. Completing high school was all that was needed for 13% of employees.
